United Nations Continues to Reject Internal Oversight

The repercussions following Hamas’ October 7, 2023 terrorist assault, which claimed the lives of more than 1,200 Israelis including 46 Americans, have echoed far beyond Israel’s borders. Yet, thus far, they have not translated into any meaningful action against the United Nations—thousands among its staff may have aided and abetted Hamas—in any substantial way.

Under treaties established at the birth of the United Nations, international organizations and their personnel have long enjoyed a set of privileges and immunities designed to shield them from legal proceedings.
